If you are interested in playing we are always open to new members. There is no audition per se however your paying and attendance (and punctuality) will be evaluated over a 3 month period. We play all varieties of music; Marches, Broadway tunes, Movie scores, and other standard concert fare (mostly Grade 3 and 4 pieces with the occasional Grade 5 piece). We have 3 groups within our organization, a concert band, a marching band and a dance band. We always encourage members to march in parades as that is our principle form of raising money to pay for trips (the band went to Conway New Hampshire for 4 days in 2023 and we are discussing plans to go to Lake George in 2024 or 2025). The band pays for rooms and transport for those desiring to take the bus.
The Bonsal Blues Parade band marched in the annual Firemen's Convention parade on Saturday, Sept 14th,marching for the South Amboy Fire Department. While the parade was long (we marched almost a mile just to get to the start point) the 16 members who played did an excellent job, taking home a first place prize for best band.
